KBR (NYSE: KBR) announced that KTJV, a joint venture between KBR and Technip Energies, has been chosen by Lake Charles LNG Export Company, a subsidiary of Energy Transfer LP, for its transformative Lake Charles LNG project.
Under the agreement, KTJV will deliver comprehensive services, including engineering, procurement, construction management, commissioning, and startup, contingent on Lake Charles LNG’s decision to proceed with the project.
The project aims to convert Energy Transfer’s existing import terminal into a world-class LNG export facility, addressing the rising global demand for LNG and energy security. It will involve the construction of three liquefaction trains and modifications to the current storage and dock infrastructure, enabling the export of 16.45 million metric tons of LNG annually.
“KBR is honored to collaborate with Energy Transfer and Lake Charles LNG, alongside our joint venture partner, to develop this advanced LNG facility,” said Stuart Bradie, KBR President and CEO. “The Lake Charles LNG project will enhance global energy security and be designed as one of the most efficient and clean facilities in the U.S. This project exemplifies our commitment to supporting our clients’ business goals through our strategic, low-risk business model.”
Tom Mason, President of Lake Charles LNG, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: “We are pleased to have two world-class companies as our engineering, procurement, and construction contractors. The contract’s structure aligns KTJV and Lake Charles LNG to deliver a high-quality, cost-effective project. Our decision to proceed with the project will depend on securing commercial offtake commitments and third-party equity that meet our internal objectives. This alignment with KTJV marks another positive milestone in the project’s progress.”
KBR’s nearly five decades of experience in LNG facility design and development, combined with the expertise of their joint venture partner, positions KTJV to successfully lead this critical project.
