Kiribati Youth Park Inaugurated, Marking a Milestone in Kiribati-China Relations
The Kiribati Youth Park project, constructed by The First Engineering Bureau of CREC, was officially inaugurated recently. The event drew over 500 attendees, including Kiribati’s President Tanesh Mamao, Vice President Toatu, Minister of Agriculture Tekeyala, Chinese Ambassador to Kiribati Zhou Limin, and representatives from various Chinese-funded institutions and expert groups providing aid to Kiribati.
Speaking on behalf of the Kiribati government, Minister Tekeyala remarked that the Youth Park offers an ideal venue for the people of Kiribati to gather, engage in recreational activities, and exercise. He emphasized that the park is a significant symbol of the deepening partnership between Kiribati and China, laying the foundation for increasingly fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two nations.
Details of the Youth Park Project in Kiribati
The Youth Park project, spanning approximately 30,000 square meters, was funded by the Zhaoqing City Government of China and constructed by The First Engineering Bureau of CREC. The project involved renovating and enhancing the existing park with new features such as basketball courts, beach volleyball courts, an outdoor fitness equipment center, a children’s playground, and a Chinese landscape wall, among other multifunctional facilities. This park is the first modern, high-quality, multifunctional sports venue in Kiribati’s history, set to become a landmark attraction in Tarawa and significantly boost the country’s tourism development.
