KBR (NYSE: KBR) announced today that it has been awarded a firm fixed-price contract valued at $476 million by the U.S. Navy Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC). The contract is for the continued delivery of Base Operations Support (BOS) services at Camp Lemonnier and Chabelley Airfield in Djibouti — home to the U.S. Navy’s only permanent base on the African continent.
Under this latest contract, KBR will sustain its support for the Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA), continuing a longstanding partnership with the Navy. This comprehensive BOS agreement is one of the Navy’s most extensive contracts of its kind, and it tasks KBR with delivering a wide range of essential mission support services for military personnel stationed in the region.
The scope of work includes full-scale base operations ranging from the management and maintenance of facilities to providing fire protection and emergency response. KBR will also support airfield operations, security services, and other critical functions that ensure seamless day-to-day operations. Furthermore, KBR will be responsible for delivering basic life support services, such as power generation, potable water supply, housing accommodations, and dining and food service operations.
The contract covers a period of performance starting in November 2025 and extending through May 2034, ensuring long-term continuity and operational stability for U.S. forces deployed in the region.
KBR has supported NAVFAC’s operations in Djibouti since 2013. The company’s extensive experience in operating in austere and high-tempo environments has made it a reliable partner in facilitating the CJTF-HOA’s core mission: enhancing regional partnerships, fostering stability, deterring conflict, and protecting the strategic interests of the United States and its allies across East Africa.
Commenting on the award, KBR Chief Operating Officer Byron Bright stated, “Our KBR team has worked closely with NAVFAC in Djibouti for over a decade, ensuring uninterrupted base operations that enable the Horn of Africa task force to focus on their vital regional mission. We are honored to continue this important work under the new BOS contract. As The Team Behind The Mission®, we’re proud to support our armed forces around the world.”
Beyond Djibouti, KBR provides base operations support to the U.S. Navy in several key regions including Bahrain, Diego Garcia, and the United Arab Emirates. The company also serves the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and across North America. With over 30 years of mission-critical support experience, KBR continues to operate in some of the world’s most challenging and strategically significant environments, contributing to the safety, efficiency, and operational readiness of U.S. and allied military forces globally.
