HomeSafe Alliance received formal notice from the U.S. Department of Defense’s Transportation Command (TRANSCOM) that the Global Household Goods Contract—awarded to HomeSafe in 2021—has been terminated. The contract was intended to overhaul and modernize the military moving system to better serve U.S. service members and their families.
HomeSafe Alliance firmly disagrees with TRANSCOM’s rationale for the termination and maintains that it fulfilled its obligations to the fullest extent possible under the constraints and limitations imposed upon the program.
While HomeSafe will wind down operations, the company remains committed to completing all in-progress relocations for military families with professionalism and care.
“I am incredibly proud of our team and the progress we made in addressing long-standing inefficiencies in the military move system,” said Bobby Nicholson, CEO of HomeSafe Alliance. “Our employees dedicated themselves to improving the experience for service members and their families, and I am grateful for the trust those families placed in us.”
The Global Household Goods Contract was initiated by TRANSCOM under Congressional direction to reform a system plagued by persistent complaints. Throughout the contract period, HomeSafe worked diligently and in good faith with TRANSCOM to address government delays, operational hurdles, and commercial complexities. Just weeks ago, both parties had reached a tentative agreement to overcome these issues and advance the program.
HomeSafe was disappointed to receive notice of termination without prior consultation with the Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Joint Task Force, particularly given the positive trajectory of recent discussions.
From the outset, the initiative faced strong resistance from entrenched legacy providers. In light of the unexpected termination, HomeSafe Alliance is currently evaluating all legal options available.
