Granite’s Brunswick Facility to Provide Key Support for Carson City Infrastructure Project

Granite Awarded $21 Million Contract for East William Street Revitalization Project in Carson City, Nevada

Granite (NYSE: GVA), a leading construction and materials company, has been awarded a contract worth approximately $21 million by Carson City, Nevada. The contract will fund a significant transportation infrastructure project focused on improving the city’s East William Street corridor, marking a key milestone in Carson City’s ongoing commitment to enhancing mobility and urban accessibility.

The East William Complete Street Project is part of Carson City’s broader initiative to transform major transportation corridors into multi-modal, community-friendly thoroughfares. Funding for the project is sourced from both local funds and a grant from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Granite confirmed that the project’s financials will be included in its second-quarter committed and awarded projects (CAP).

Darren Anderson, City Engineer at the Carson City Public Works Department, emphasized the importance of this endeavor. “Carson City is excited to partner with Granite to get construction underway on the third of our major corridor complete streets projects,” Anderson stated. “This project will upgrade the major gateway—East William Street—from the east side of the city to our downtown core. It’s a transformational step in the way our community moves.”

The project will revitalize approximately 1.5 miles of East William Street, a key access point to the heart of the city. The goal is to convert this vehicle-centric roadway into a multi-use corridor that serves motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians equally. The redesign aims to significantly enhance safety, accessibility, and connectivity while supporting sustainable and active modes of transportation.

“This initiative reflects our strong commitment to our people and the communities we serve,” said Chris Burke, Granite Vice President of Regional Operations. “It provides meaningful work for our teams over nearly a year and gives us the opportunity to work closely with Carson City on a project that will deliver real, long-term benefits to residents and visitors alike.”

One of the key components supporting the project will be Granite’s Brunswick Facility, which the company acquired in 2023. The facility is slated to supply approximately 10,000 tons of asphalt pavement, highlighting its increasing strategic role in local infrastructure development.

Brad Estes, Granite’s Senior Vice President of Construction Materials, highlighted the value of the facility’s involvement. “This contribution underscores the Brunswick Facility’s importance—not just in supplying high-quality materials—but in helping deliver projects that support thriving communities,” Estes remarked. “This type of regional synergy between our operations and civic goals is exactly what we strive to achieve.”

Construction on the East William Complete Street Project is scheduled to begin in July 2025 and is anticipated to reach completion by the summer of 2026. Throughout this period, Granite and Carson City will work hand-in-hand to ensure minimal disruption to residents while delivering a modern, safer, and more efficient transportation corridor.
