Warwickshire Brothers Secure Funding Support to Advance Their Team GB Ultimate Frisbee Goals
Two talented brothers from Warwickshire, both rising stars in the world of competitive Ultimate Frisbee, have taken an important step forward in their athletic journey thanks to new financial support from their employer. Robert and Rupert Pantling, who hail from Leamington Spa and have represented Team GB in youth divisions of the sport, have been awarded £500 in funding from Persimmon Homes to assist with the significant travel, equipment, and training expenses required to compete at an elite level.
Ultimate Frisbee—often referred to as “extreme frisbee”—has grown rapidly in popularity and competitiveness across the UK. The Pantling brothers have been part of this growing movement from a young age, dedicating countless hours to training and competition. Their passion and skill have already earned them opportunities to represent Great Britain in both the under-17 and under-20 age groups, achievements that highlight their commitment and potential in the sport.
Both Robert and Rupert are employees of Persimmon Homes and currently work on the company’s Newland and Moathouse housing developments on Hospital Lane in Bedworth. Outside their working hours, however, much of their time is spent training with Leamington Lemmings, the local Ultimate Frisbee club they proudly represent. Founded in 2006, Leamington Lemmings has become a strong and recognised presence in the UK Ultimate community, helping develop young talent and fostering a reputation for sportsmanship and competitive excellence.
The Pantling brothers have been standout members of the club for several years, contributing to its growing list of accomplishments. One of their most notable team achievements came in 2025, when they won the Under-20 Indoor National Championship—a major milestone in their competitive journey. Their success on the national stage is backed by other impressive results, including winning the Southampton Tour event in 2023, as well as securing regional awards in both 2024 and 2025. Their commitment to fair play has also been recognised through the Spirit Award, a prestigious accolade in Ultimate Frisbee that honours exceptional sportsmanship, integrity, and respect for opponents.
Recognising both their potential and their dedication, Persimmon Homes was eager to support the brothers as they continue to pursue excellence in their sport. The £500 funding contribution will help them manage the increasing expenses associated with competing at a high level. Travel costs, tournament fees, equipment upgrades, and specialist training all contribute to the financial strain often felt by athletes in emerging sports, especially those representing their country.
Paul Coles, Operations Director at Persimmon Homes Central, expressed pride in the brothers’ achievements and their role as ambassadors both for their sport and for the company. “Robert and Rupert are committed to their sport and it’s great to see them competing at such a high level,” Coles said. “We were only too pleased to help them with some additional funding so they can continue to follow their dream and hopefully go on to achieve even more success in the future.”
For Robert and Rupert, the funding represents not only financial relief, but also a vote of confidence in their dedication and potential. They shared their appreciation for the support, emphasising how essential such contributions are for athletes trying to progress in fast-developing sports. “We’re delighted that Persimmon has supported us with the funding,” they said in a joint statement. “As any sportsperson will know, it’s expensive to be involved in games at this level and we’re really grateful for the support. We’re excited for the future and are pleased to be doing something we both love. It’s a great sport and we would encourage any young people to think about getting involved.”
The brothers’ passion for Ultimate Frisbee extends beyond competition—they also hope to inspire others in Warwickshire and beyond to discover the sport. Known for its fast pace, strategic depth, and strong emphasis on fair play, Ultimate Frisbee has become increasingly popular with young athletes across the UK. With role models like the Pantlings rising through the ranks, the sport continues to gain visibility and credibility.
For now, the brothers remain focused on their ongoing training and preparation for upcoming events, with aspirations to continue representing Team GB in future tournaments. The support from Persimmon Homes will help ease the practical challenges of balancing work, travel, and intensive training schedules, enabling them to stay committed to both their sport and their professional roles.
Their story is a testament to the impact local employers can have when they invest in the personal passions and talents of their staff. With continued dedication, community support, and a strong partnership with their club and employer, Robert and Rupert are well positioned to build on their achievements and pursue even greater success on the national and international Ultimate Frisbee stage.
