He reiterated Flatiron’s commitment to close collaboration with construction partners, clients, and local authorities to minimize disruptions and ensure successful project completion.
Southern California remains a pivotal market for Flatiron, leveraging over three decades of local expertise and a track record of delivering numerous successful projects in highway, transit, aviation, water/wastewater, and other heavy civil sectors. The company adopts various collaborative delivery models, including Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC), Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), Progressive Design-Build, as well as traditional Design-Bid-Build approaches.
Notable among Flatiron’s recent endeavors is the North Coast Corridor (NCC) Segment 4C project, awarded by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). With a contract value of $72.5 million, this collaboration with Skanska and Stacy Witbeck marks Flatiron’s fourth engagement with Caltrans on the significant NCC improvements initiative, totaling $737.5 million. The project, utilizing the CM/GC delivery method, encompasses a comprehensive blend of transportation enhancements, environmental conservation efforts, and coastal access initiatives, aimed at improving lives, preserving the environment, and boosting the regional economy.
Another prominent project is the Eastbound State Route 91 (EB SR-91) Atlantic to Cherry Improvements project, awarded by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) to Flatiron, with a contract value of $99.6 million. This project aims to enhance traffic flow, reduce congestion, and bolster safety for commuters in the Long Beach area.
Additionally, Flatiron has been entrusted by San Diego State University (SDSU) to lead the Fenton Parkway Bridge Project, valued at $28 million, utilizing the CMAR collaborative delivery method. The project aims to construct a bridge over the San Diego River, facilitating improved transportation efficiency and safety within the region.
These projects collectively underscore Flatiron’s dedication to delivering sustainable solutions that enhance communities and streamline urban mobility across Southern California.
