The next stage of the Stortford Fields development in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire is set to get underway this year after the Essex region secured planning permission for 124 new homes.
Essex region already had outline permission for Parcel H, J and K as part of the wider Stortford Fields consortium application for up to 2,200 dwellings, alongside a range of community facilities, on land north of the town.
This parcel sits within the Eastern Neighbourhood of the new community and Essex region plans to start work on the new properties in spring 2024.
The development will include a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses, with 36 homes available for affordable rent through a housing association and a further 12 homes for shared ownership to help first-time buyers in housing need to secure their own home.
Essex region has recently completed a successful development at Hadham Road, Bishops Stortford under their Charles Church banner. In addition to this, Persimmon Homes is awaiting a decision on an application for 114 homes on Parcel P, Q and W, which neighbours the new site, and will allow them to further meet the housing need locally.
The Stortford Fields community has seen a new primary school and a new secondary school open in recent years with a further primary school planned. There will be five equipped play areas and a neighbourhood centre offering shops and local services, plus a football ground and allotments.
Richard Hush, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Essex, said:
“We are delighted to be able to start work on this latest site in Bishop’s Stortford in 2024 and continue our legacy of delivering high quality, affordable homes for people of the town.
“Stortford Fields is an exciting place to live, work and learn, with new schools, shops and business units creating a community feel for the new families moving in.”
