Eiffage Énergie Systèmes Expands Electronics Manufacturing in Colombelles

Eiffage Énergie Systèmes has expanded its capabilities in the field of electronic subassemblies and assemblies by opening a second production site in Colombelles (Calvados). This new facility, which brings 18 years of industry experience, complements the company’s historic site in Verquin (Pas-de-Calais), known for its 40 years of expertise. With this strategic addition, Eiffage Énergie Systèmes reinforces its position in the manufacturing of electronic circuit boards, placing a particular emphasis on prototypes and small production runs.

Eiffage Énergie Systèmes Boosts Electronic Manufacturing with High-Precision Colombelles Site

Eiffage Énergie Systèmes’ Colombelles facility stands out for its specialized, responsive, and customer-focused team. The site is designed to handle electronic manufacturing requests efficiently and supports clients from the earliest design stages. It offers expert design office services, including electronic card routing using Altium and Cadence software—complementing the capabilities of the historic Verquin site. This dual-site strategy enhances responsiveness and promotes co-construction with clients.

Cutting-Edge Industrial Capabilities

The Colombelles site is equipped with state-of-the-art tools to ensure high-precision and high-quality production. A next-generation Surface Mounted Component (SMC) line is central to its operations, featuring advanced inspection technologies like:

  • SPI (Solder Paste Inspection): A 3D optical system that verifies solder paste height, surface area, and volume on printed circuit boards. Positioned after the screen printer, SPI detects misalignments, excess paste, and short circuits—reducing the risk of defects before component placement.
  • AOI3D (Automatic Optical Inspection): Ensures accurate component placement and quality at every production stage.
  • Tomographic X-ray Imaging: Detects hidden solder joints, especially on Ball Grid Array (BGA) components, which are not visible to the naked eye or AOI3D.
  • Vapor Phase Furnace: Ideal for rapid prototype development and lead-free soldering, this system ensures optimal soldering quality while minimizing defects.

A Collaborative, Networked Approach

Colombelles and Verquin operate in close coordination, merging Verquin’s 40 years of expertise with Colombelles’ agile, high-tech infrastructure. This synergy enables Eiffage Énergie Systèmes to deliver a robust, flexible, and high-performance solution tailored to complex and demanding electronics projects.
