Local MSP Joins Homebuilder to Support Dunbar Charity The Ridge
The Ridge, a Dunbar-based charity dedicated to providing training and support to the local community, has received a significant boost thanks to a £4,000 donation from Persimmon Homes East Scotland. The contribution was made through the company’s Community Champions initiative.
Alongside the financial donation, the charity was also gifted a valuable selection of tools and equipment, including power tools and personal protective equipment (PPE), to help further its work in the area.
The Ridge plays a crucial role in supporting people across Dunbar and surrounding areas, offering training, employment opportunities, and assistance to help individuals overcome personal challenges and reach their potential. This latest contribution will aid the charity’s ongoing efforts to develop local skills and provide hands-on support for those in need.
The cheque and equipment were presented to The Ridge’s Managing Director, Katie Wood, by Neil Parry, Managing Director of Persimmon East Scotland. They were joined by local MSP and Minister for Housing, Paul McLennan, and Jane Wood, Chief Executive of Homes for Scotland, during a visit to the charity’s base in Dunbar.
Katie Wood expressed her appreciation:
We are thrilled to receive this generous support from Persimmon East Scotland. The tools and PPE are already being put to good use, and the funding will significantly enhance our ability to deliver services to the community. It was a pleasure to welcome Neil, Paul, and Jane and share the impact of our work. We’re delighted to have been chosen by the Community Champions initiative.”
Paul McLennan MSP commented:
I’m delighted to see The Ridge benefit from Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme. This charity is a vital part of our community, making a real difference in people’s lives. Thank you to Persimmon for including me in this special occasion—I was proud to be part of it.”
Neil Parry of Persimmon East Scotland added:
The Ridge is doing outstanding work helping local people build confidence and skills. We’re proud to support them with this donation and the additional equipment. As a housebuilder, we are committed to supporting the communities we develop in, and we hope this contribution helps The Ridge continue making a positive difference.”
Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative sees each of its 29 regional branches donate a minimum of £6,000 per quarter to local charities, schools, and community groups, reinforcing the company’s commitment to giving back to the communities in which it operates.
