CREC 1386 and CREC 1360 TBM roll off the production line

the first off-line hard rock roadheader (TBM) “CREC 1386” in the water resources allocation project of Guangdong Beibu Gulf Rim and the first domestic hard rock roadheader “CREC 1360” applied in the construction field of iron mine engineering projects were successively rolled off the production line in Shunde, Guangdong and Zhengzhou, Henan.

“CREC 1386” developed by China Railway Engineering Equipment Group, is the first rolled off the production line TBM of Guangdong Water Resources Allocation Project in Beibu Gulf Rim. Its excavation diameter is 6.53 meters and the length of the whole machine is about 225 meters, which is applied to the tunnel construction of C1 section of Guangdong Water Resources Allocation Project around Beibu Gulf, with a planned excavation length of 10.82 kilometers. In view of the complex geological conditions and technical difficulties such as high rock hardness, great geological changes and long tunneling distance in the bid section, China Railway Engineering Equipment Group draws lessons from the design and application experience of water resources allocation TBM in the Pearl River Delta, plateau alpine railway TBM and many complex and changeable projects, takes safety, reliability and adaptability as the primary criteria, carries out targeted design, ingenious manufacturing and assembly to ensure the smooth tunneling of the project.It is reported that the water resources allocation project around the Beibu Gulf in Guangdong Province is an inter-basin water diversion project with the largest diversion flow, the longest water transmission line, the most complex construction conditions and the largest total investment in the history of Guangdong Province. After opening, it will benefit 18 million people along the line, alleviate the regional water shortage situation, improve the water supply pattern, and strongly support the high-quality economic and social development of Zhanjiang, Maoming, Yangjiang and Yunfu.

“CREC 1360” is jointly developed by China Railway Tunnel Group and China Railway Engineering Equipment Group and will be used in the excavation and masonry project of the belt inclined shaft and auxiliary ramp system of Xi’anshan Mining and Dressing Joint Project, creating a precedent for the research and application of critical technical equipment in the field of domestic iron mine engineering construction.

The project is located 7 kilometers southwest of Anshan City, Liaoning Province, with a total length of 15.3 kilometers, of which the inclined shaft and auxiliary ramp adopted TBM construction is 10.5 kilometers in full size; the tunnel chamber is constructed by drilling and blasting method, which is 4.8 kilometers long. The application of TBM in this project requires overcoming the difficulties of extensive long-distance slope excavation, long-distance construction ventilation organization, and construction through soft rock broken zones during construction.

The new open-type TBM tunneling machine “CREC 1360” has a total length of 181 meters, a weight of 1200 tons, and a cutter head diameter of 7.03 meters, and will undertake a 10.5 km tunneling construction task. It is designed for uphill and downhill tunneling construction with large slopes, adapting to the slope range of -8.53°~+12.5;the key components are designed in blocks to meet the needs of dismantling and transportation after laying the bottom in the tunnel; it is equipped with advanced geological prediction and treatment functions, with an advanced geological prediction system and advanced drilling and injection equipment; the cutter head is a block structure, using box structure to improve the stiffness and strength of the cutter head, optimizing the welding structure, reducing welding stress, and extending the fatigue life of the cutter head; it pays attention to intelligent construction, equipped with tool wear monitoring system and cutter head wear monitoring system to monitor the status of cutter head and tools in time. The design of this machine meets the turning requirements of minimum horizontal turning radius of 100 meters and minimum vertical curve turning radius of 300 meters.
