Bradford policymakers have toured new housing developments in the city as the King outlines the Government’s legislative priorities during the State Opening of Parliament. Housing was a key focus of the King’s Speech, with the Government pledging to reform the planning system and build 1.5 million new homes throughout this Parliament.
Bradford Council’s Labour Leader, Susan Hinchcliffe, and Cabinet Member Alex Ross-Shaw visited Persimmon’s Cote Farm development to discuss housing delivery and strategies for assisting more people in buying homes. The site, which will eventually feature over 200 new homes, was showcased to the Councillors.
During their visit, discussions covered housing delivery, the mortgage market, and Persimmon’s efforts to enhance energy efficiency in line with upcoming regulations.
Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe remarked, “As a young city, addressing housing needs is both a current and future challenge. Collaboration with housing partners will be crucial for our future economic growth.”
Cabinet member Alex Ross-Shaw noted, “Facilitating access to quality homes is a key component of our district’s regeneration plans. It’s encouraging to see developers implement greener and more efficient practices for our residents.”
Christopher Hull, Managing Director of Persimmon West Yorkshire, said, “It was a pleasure to host Councillors Hinchcliffe and Ross-Shaw and update them on our regional efforts. Despite current market challenges, we remain committed to helping local homebuyers and delivering the high-quality new homes the country needs.
