Clark Builders Awarded Contract for Red Deer Regional Hospital Expansion and Renovation, a division of Turner Construction Company, is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded the contract by Alberta Infrastructure to oversee the expansion and renovation of the Red Deer Regional Hospital. This major project aims to enhance healthcare facilities and meet the increasing needs of central Alberta’s community.
The expansion includes constructing a new patient tower and extensive upgrades to the existing hospital. The new tower will add 200 inpatient beds, bringing the hospital’s total capacity to 570 beds. It will feature six new operating rooms, cardiac catheterization labs, an endoscopy unit, an inpatient renal dialysis unit, and an expanded medical device reprocessing department. Additionally, a new power plant building will be constructed to support the updated infrastructure.
Later phases will focus on renovating the current hospital, including expanding the emergency department, reconfiguring loading docks, and updating the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and other departments.
Clark Builders will collaborate with DIALOG, a leading architectural firm known for its innovative healthcare designs. Past successful collaborations include the Gene Zwozdesky Centre at Norwood and the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.
Early site preparation will commence soon, with construction on the new patient tower expected to start by early 2025. The phased approach is designed to minimize disruption to ongoing hospital services, allowing the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre to continue providing critical care during construction.
The redevelopment will address current capacity issues, reducing the need for patients in the Red Deer area to seek specialized care in Edmonton or Calgary. Upon completion, the expanded facility will provide better service to central Alberta residents, ensuring access to high-quality healthcare closer to home.
“We are honored to contribute to this crucial development and continue our tradition of impactful projects,” said Andrew Ross, Chief Executive Officer. “Our team is dedicated to delivering a facility that meets the community’s current needs and supports regional healthcare for years to come.”
This project highlights Clark Builders’ commitment to enhancing the lives of people and communities they serve.
