Budimex Secures Contract to Build Sixth Section of the S10 Expressway

Budimex Lands Contract for Sixth Section of the S10 Expressway

Budimex SA, the leading general contractor in Poland, has signed a contract for the construction of another section of the S10 expressway. The contract worth PLN 204 million gross concerns the construction of the Szczecin Kijewo – Szczecin Zdunowo section with a length of 4.4 km. This is the sixth section of the S10 entrusted to Budimex, confirming the company’s strong position in the implementation of strategic infrastructure projects in Poland.

The S10 road is a key element of the government’s programme to build a modern transport network, which aims to improve interregional communication and safety on Polish roads. The Szczecin Kijewo – Szczecin Zdunowo section, the construction of which is to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2028, is part of a larger project connecting the Szczecin agglomeration with Piła. The entire S10 route, covering 113.4 km from the A6 motorway near Szczecin to the Piła Północ junction, is being implemented on the basis of eight contracts, six of which have been entrusted to Budimex.

The total gross value of Budimex’s contracts is over PLN 3.05 billion, and the  length of the six sections contracted by the company is nearly 80 km. The S10 route, running from Szczecin through Piła, Bydgoszcz and Toruń, will connect the north-west of Poland with Mazovia in the future, offering an alternative route to the A2 motorway.

The S10 expressway project plays a vital role in improving regional connectivity and streamlining transportation networks across Poland. It serves as a critical artery linking key cities and regions, facilitating the movement of goods and passengers more efficiently. With its strategic importance, the expressway is expected to enhance the economic flow between major urban centers and strengthen Poland’s logistics and transportation infrastructure.

Budimex’s involvement in this significant project underscores its expertise in large-scale, complex infrastructure developments. The company has built a reputation for delivering high-quality, timely construction services on projects of national importance. The successful completion of previous sections of the S10 expressway has already positioned Budimex as a leader in the execution of key transportation initiatives in the country.

This latest contract further highlights Budimex’s role as a key player in Poland’s infrastructural growth. The company has been consistently involved in the construction and modernization of highways, expressways, and other critical transport projects that have contributed to the country’s expanding transportation network.

The fact that Budimex is constructing the vast majority of sections of the S10 expressway is a great honour for us and confirmation of our position as a leader in the implementation of key infrastructure projects in Poland. The S10 road is an investment of strategic importance for the entire country – we connect regions, improve safety and comfort of travel, while supporting economic development.

We are proud to implement such comprehensive projects, which are a milestone in the development of modern road infrastructure in Poland ,” said Artur Popko, President of Budimex SA.

The scope of the investment includes the construction of a dual carriageway road with two lanes in each direction, additional local roadways, pedestrian and bicycle crossings, engineering structures and land drainage systems. The project, implemented in the “Design and Build” formula, also involves the reconstruction of the existing road infrastructure colliding with the new route. Thanks to the use of the latest technological solutions, the S10 will meet the highest quality and safety standards.

The construction of the S10 route, with a length of about 410 km, will connect Szczecin with the Warsaw agglomeration, running through Piła, Bydgoszcz and Toruń. It is an important element in the construction of a sustainable and modern transport network, which will contribute to the dynamic development of regions and facilitate travel between key agglomerations in Poland.
