Construction on the S19 expressway between Haćki and Bielsk Podlaski Zachód is progressing on schedule, with Budimex announcing 80% completion of the 9-kilometre section as of the end of May 2025. This segment forms a crucial part of the international Via Carpatia route.
As part of the project, key infrastructure elements are being developed, including seven viaducts, seven ecological culverts, and two animal crossings. Two medium-sized roundabouts and a four-entry roundabout are also under construction, connecting the rerouted section of National Road 66 (DK66) with the existing network. In addition, the project includes 2.16 km of new DK66 roadway and the construction of the “Bielsk Podlaski Północ” and “Bielsk Podlaski Zachód” junctions.
“We are maintaining a strong pace and systematically completing the next stages of this investment. The S19 expressway in Podlasie is a strategic initiative for both local communities and Poland’s broader transport network,” said Robert Gromala, Contract Director at Budimex SA.
Significant progress has been made on bridge foundations and supports, and over 1 million cubic meters of earthworks have already been completed. The reconstruction of underground infrastructure—including water, gas, and power networks—has also reached a key milestone. In total, the project will utilize approximately 175,000 tonnes of bituminous mass.
The gross contract value is estimated at around PLN 326 million. Once completed, the S19 will span 570 kilometers from the Belarusian border at Kuźnica Białostocka to the Slovakian border at Barwinek. As part of the broader Via Carpatia corridor, it will serve as a major north–south transport route across Europe.
Budimex remains one of the leading contractors under Poland’s National Roads Construction Programme and the Government’s “100 Bypasses” initiative. The company’s large-scale involvement in these strategic projects solidifies its position as a key player in the modernisation of Poland’s national transport infrastructure.
