Bouygues Construction to Build St John’s CE Academy in Oxfordshire, UK

Bouygues UK, a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction in England, has been chosen by the Department for Education to construct the new St John’s CE Academy secondary school in Grove, Oxfordshire. The project, valued at £28.2 million (€33 million), will be undertaken on behalf of Vale Academy Trust.

The future St John’s CE Academy is set to be built near the existing primary school in the village of Grove. This new institution will be the first in the area to accommodate students from nursery through secondary school, with a capacity of 600 pupils.

Designed by Stride Treglown, the academy will be a two-storey building made from sustainable materials, including a cross-laminated timber frame. It will feature a green roof equipped with solar panels. The outdoor areas, including playing fields and recreational spaces, will incorporate sustainable drainage systems to optimize rainwater management. The building will be clad in brick and timber panels, with aluminium exterior joinery, blending both aesthetics and functionality.

“Our vision for the new academy is to establish an educational hub at the heart of the Wellington Gate community. It will offer not only quality education but also various opportunities and services for the entire family. We are confident that Bouygues UK will deliver a modern building that meets the community’s needs for years to come,” said Rick Holroyd, Managing Director of St John’s CE Academy.

Bouygues UK has an extensive portfolio of educational projects across the United Kingdom, including primary and secondary schools, universities, and research centers. Notable projects include Pencoedtre High School, West Twyford Primary School, Westminster City School, Cardiff Innovation Campus, and Bath School of Management.

This project underscores Bouygues UK’s commitment to education and its positive contribution to the Wellington Gate community.
