Bouygues Construction and WOODOO Launch Industrial Production of Innovative Low-Carbon Material

WOODOO and Bouygues Construction Partner to Revolutionize Low-Carbon Building with STACK™

WOODOO, the French innovator behind “augmented wood,” has entered a strategic partnership with Bouygues Construction to introduce STACK™, a groundbreaking low-carbon construction system, with support from VivaTech. STACK™ transforms fast-growing or underutilized wood species—like poplar—into a high-performance building material that matches or surpasses the strength of steel and reinforced concrete, at a lower environmental and economic cost.

This partnership encompasses the entire industrial process—from design and testing to certification and construction. Bouygues Construction has committed to deploying 10,000 m³ of STACK™, replacing around 20,000 m³ of traditional reinforced concrete—equivalent to five Olympic-sized swimming pools.

With mechanical properties comparable to reinforced concrete, STACK™ enables more efficient structural use, reducing both material requirements and overall costs. The result is a significantly lower carbon footprint and a sustainable alternative for the construction sector.

Bouygues Construction, via its subsidiary Bouygues Bâtiment Industrie, is also exploring applications of STACK™ in industrial infrastructure, particularly for facilities supporting digital technologies and AI, such as data centers.
