BAM Contributes to Sustainable Housing Solutions in Eastern Netherlands

BAM has been appointed as the construction partner for approximately 1,000 new homes in the eastern Netherlands, as part of the Bouwstroom Oost initiative—a joint effort by five housing corporations committed to accelerating the delivery of affordable and sustainable housing.

The homes will be developed as concept homes, meaning they will be built using a standardized reference model. This approach streamlines the construction process, reduces costs, and promotes sustainability. BAM’s stacked housing design allows for greater residential density while preserving comfort and quality of life.

The selection of BAM followed a competitive tender process with stringent sustainability requirements, based on the “New Normal” standard. These criteria included environmental performance, use of circular and detachable materials, material health, ease of maintenance, and overall living quality.

Through its standardized, scalable, and sustainable construction methods, BAM is reshaping traditional homebuilding into a model fit for the future. The project will not only contribute to easing the regional housing shortage but also set a new benchmark for socially responsible construction. The first homes are scheduled for completion by the end of 2025, with a total of 2,500 homes planned under the Bouwstroom Oost program.

This partnership underscores how innovation, efficiency, and social responsibility can come together to build a better future.
