AECOM Chosen for Program Management of Queen Street HEIP in Ontario

AECOM, a global leader in infrastructure consulting, has been selected by Peel Region to provide program management services for the Queen Street Housing Enabling Infrastructure Program (HEIP). This program aims to develop critical water and wastewater infrastructure needed to support housing development under Ontario’s Bill 23, which targets the construction of 1.5 million housing units by 2031.

Drew Jeter, CEO of AECOM’s Program Management division, emphasized the partnership’s focus on accelerating infrastructure delivery while enhancing sustainability and community well-being. “Our expertise will help the Region meet its goals and set new standards for infrastructure delivery,” he said.

Beverley Stinson, CEO of AECOM’s global Water business, highlighted the company’s experience in Peel Region’s water infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities. She noted that AECOM’s technical expertise uniquely positions them to support Peel’s water infrastructure modernization.

The Queen Street HEIP will build infrastructure to support new housing, drive economic growth, and enhance community welfare. AECOM’s role involves planning, designing, and implementing water and wastewater systems to meet the area’s increasing demands for housing and services.

Richard Barrett, CEO of AECOM’s Canada region, added that the company’s strong record in managing complex water projects will be crucial in delivering the large-scale improvements needed for sustainable development in Peel.

AECOM’s recent regional projects include the expansion of the Clarkson Water Resource Recovery Facility and work at the Arthur P. Kennedy and Lorne Park water treatment plants, further enhancing the region’s infrastructure.
