A new contract for Colas Rail in the Philippines
Colas Rail, as member of a institute led by Alstom, has been chosen by Mitsubishi
Corporation to design and make the E&M( Electrical & Mechanical) systems and track
workshop for the extension of the NSCR( North South Commuter Railway) line in the
Philippines.
The NSCR extension design is one of the crucial rudiments of the Manila Transport Master Plan. It
involves the construction of some 110 km of mainline track, serving 27 new stations, with a 55-
km southern section between Tutuban and Calamba, Laguna Province, and a 51- km northern
section between Malolos and Clark International Airport in the Province of Pampanga. The
Calamba station will also be connected to the PNR South Long Haul line, which is listed to
be extended to the southern tip of Luzon Island, therefore furnishing a stronger connection between
Manila’s cities and the metro network.
The contract won by Colas Rail covers the design, force, installation, testing and commissioning
of the tracks and overhead contact systems.
Following the underground line of the Metro Manila Subway at the end of 2021, the extension of
the NSCR line is the alternate major rail structure design won by Colas Rail in the Philippines.
The new contract highlights Colas Rail’s ambition to play a major part in the development of
sustainable and safe transport structure in the Philippines, drawing on its network of original
and transnational moxie.
” Colas Rail is proud to be part of this new design in the Philippines. It’ll give the original
population with fast, accessible public transport between the cities and the inner- megacity metro in
Manila. After the Cairo Metro Line 4 and the Manila Metro design, we’re pleased to mate up
again with Mitsubishi Corporation. NSCR is the alternate major design we’ve won in the
Philippines and is a farther illustration of how we’re moving up the value chain and positioning
ourselves in major rail system systems,” explains Hervé Le Joliff, President of Colas Rail.
