NCC has secured a contract to refurbish 184 rental apartments for KAB and the housing company AKB Taastrup in the Taastrupgaard residential district, located east of Copenhagen. This project marks the first phase of an extensive refurbishment initiative for the area, with a total order value of approximately SEK 400 million. The refurbishment aims to modernize the buildings while improving energy efficiency, addressing the Danish government’s designation of the district as a vulnerable residential area. The project is the first of three planned phases for Taastrupgaard.
“We’re excited to work with NCC on the ambitious transformation of Taastrupgaard, which will not only modernize the buildings but also enhance the appeal of Høje-Taastrup’s new cultural district. For residents, this collaboration represents a significant step toward their goal of enjoying modern housing with higher living standards and a notably reduced carbon footprint,” says Jens Elmelund, CEO of KAB.
The refurbishment project will involve updates and remodeling of the apartments, including modifications for accessibility and the conversion of some units into youth housing. Upgrades will include new facades, windows, doors, balconies, kitchens, and floors. The outdoor spaces will also undergo a complete revitalization.
“This major refurbishment will transform Taastrupgaard into a modern and desirable residential area. Our experienced and cohesive team, who recently completed a similar large-scale refurbishment in Herlev, will bring valuable expertise to this project,” says Catarina Molén-Runnäs, Head of NCC Building Nordics.
Work on the refurbishment will begin in September 2024, with completion expected by late 2026. The SEK 400 million contract will be recorded under the NCC Building Nordics business area in the third quarter of 2024.
