The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), Hunt-PENTA Joint Venture, Klai-Juba-Wald Architects, and Miller & Ham Project Development celebrated a significant milestone in the $600 million renovation of the Las Vegas Convention Center’s (LVCC) legacy campus with the placement of the final beam today, honoring the contributions of hundreds of tradesworkers.
In 2023, the LVCVA embarked on a $600 million renovation to modernize the LVCC’s legacy campus, extending the contemporary design of the $1 billion West Hall expansion. While construction on the South Hall was completed in January, work continues on the Central and North Halls through 2025. The renovation will introduce a spacious Grand Lobby, new state-of-the-art areas, digital signage, advanced technology features, and an enhanced guest experience.
Conventions are vital to Las Vegas’s economy, contributing over $15 billion in 2023 and supporting more than 67,000 jobs with $3.7 billion in wages.
“Convention centers are crucial to economic growth, and the Las Vegas Convention Center is leading the way,” said Corissa Smith, AECOM Hunt Executive Vice President and Convention Center Market Lead. “This project will further distinguish Las Vegas with cutting-edge innovations and improved guest experiences. We’re grateful to the LVCVA, Miller & Ham Project Development, our trade partners, and the skilled tradespeople making this vision a reality.”
Steve Hill, president and CEO of the LVCVA, highlighted the event’s significance: “Today marks an important milestone for Las Vegas and our customers. It underscores the meeting and convention industry’s importance to our city and the community’s dedication to making it happen.”
As one of the nation’s top convention centers, the LVCC hosts major tradeshows like SEMA, CES, World of Concrete, and CONEXPO – CON/AGG. In 2023, it welcomed 48 conventions with around 1.2 million attendees.
