VINCI Energies has signed a €200 million contract with the National Electricity Company of Senegal (Senelec) for the construction of a set of electricity transmission and distribution infrastructures. Its financing benefits from the support of the French authorities.
Lasting three years, the work will involve more than 1,000 people. They include the deployment of 1,350 km of high and very high voltage overhead and underground electricity transmission lines, enabling the connection of several thousand homes. To this is added the construction of eight very high voltage transformer stations. Network management will also be extended, in particular with the establishment of a telecontrol interface and the detection of communicating overhead and underground faults.
Local teams will benefit from training and know-how transfers, with the support of French and Moroccan VINCI Energies companies.
This project is part of the Senegalese electricity transmission and distribution network development program, the objective of which is to strengthen the country’s energy capacity in a sustainable manner by 2026 and to strengthen universal access to electricity.
