YIT Begins Construction of New Seaside Apartment Building in Kivenlahti, Espoo
YIT has officially launched the construction of a new self-developed residential apartment building, Asunto Oy Espoon Vesta, in the scenic Marinranta block of Kivenlahti, Espoo. The development marks another milestone in YIT’s long-term involvement in the area and further enhances the residential appeal of this sought-after seaside neighborhood. The total value of the project is approximately EUR 15 million, and the apartments are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
The new eight-story building will offer 30 modern homes, providing a total of approximately 2,500 square meters of living space. The apartment sizes will range from 59 to 148.5 square meters, offering flexibility and choice for different types of residents, from single professionals and couples to larger families. Buyers will be able to choose from a range of layouts featuring two to six rooms, tailored to meet a variety of lifestyle needs.
Located in a prime spot close to both the sea and the Kivenlahti metro station, Vesta offers its future residents not only beautiful maritime views and access to the waterfront but also excellent public transport and urban conveniences. According to YIT, the nearby Espoo waterfront route—an idyllic 40-kilometer seaside trail featuring cafés and recreational spots—passes directly in front of the Marinranta block. Kivenlahti beach is just a short walk away, providing a perfect escape for summer days. Additionally, the hybrid arena Hype and other local services enhance the livability of the area, which will only improve further with the upcoming business center connected to the new Kivenlahti metro station.
Esa Turkka, Head of Unit at YIT, highlighted the project’s importance and unique location. “It’s great that we’re able to launch a new YIT self-developed project in Espoo. Espoo’s Vesta will be located along excellent transportation connections amid coastal landscapes, next to a marina. The 40 km long Espoo waterfront route with its cafés runs in front of the area, and the Kivenlahti beach is within walking distance. The hybrid arena Hype, with its services, is located nearby, and the local amenities will increase with the completion of the new Kivenlahti metro station business center,” Turkka said.
Vesta is designed with sustainability, energy efficiency, and resident well-being at its core. The building will meet the requirements of the A energy class, indicating high energy efficiency. Solar panels will be installed on the roof to generate a portion of the building’s energy needs, reducing reliance on external energy sources and contributing to a lower carbon footprint. In line with modern ecological practices, cold and hot water consumption will be monitored separately for each apartment, encouraging residents to use water more responsibly.
Sustainable construction practices will be followed throughout the project. YIT has calculated the carbon footprint of the building to aid in the selection of environmentally responsible materials. During the construction phase, only electricity generated from wind power will be used on-site. Furthermore, at least 75% of construction waste will be sorted for recycling, significantly reducing the project’s overall environmental impact.
Residents of Espoon Vesta will also benefit from premium shared facilities, which reflect the high standard of living that YIT aims to offer in all its developments. The Marinranta block features a shared lounge area, a well-equipped fitness room, three separate saunas, and a hotel-quality guest room for visitors. These amenities will provide residents with opportunities for relaxation, exercise, and socializing, all within the comfort of their own housing complex.
Parking solutions have also been planned with the future in mind. Vesta’s parking spaces will be located in a shared underground parking garage, and each space will come with a pre-installed provision for electric vehicle charging. In a further commitment to health and safety, the entire housing company will be designated smoke-free—this is not just a policy but a legally binding rule included in the building’s articles of association.
Vesta is the latest in a series of successful developments that YIT has delivered in the Marinranta area. The company has already completed seven residential buildings here: Asunto Oy Neptus, Apollo, Selene, Helios, Kronos, Poseidon, and Notos. Each of these projects has contributed to the transformation of the Kivenlahti coastline into a vibrant, modern, and sustainable residential area.
